Registered Veterinary Nurse – Anderson Abercromby Veterinary Referrals – Horsham, West Sussex

We’re looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN) to join the team at Anderson Abercromby Veterinary Referrals at our fantastic purpose-built facility near Horsham.  Do you have a particular interest in surgical nursing? Looking to take the next step in your career?

You do not need to have previous referral experience to be considered for the position, all that we ask if that you are at least 1 year qualified.  Full support and a full induction period will be given to ensure you feel settled within the team and your new working environment.

You’ll get a salary of £28,000 – £31,000 DOE and excellent benefits.

Anderson Abercromby Veterinary Referrals is a busy, dedicated small animal orthopaedic referral practice. The Veterinary team comprises one RCVS Specialists in Small Animal Surgery, one ECVS Diplomate in Small Animal Surgery and one RCVS Advanced Practitioner. The nursing team comprises of ten RVNs and four VNA led by an experienced Head Nurse.

The Role:

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with 1 in 6 weekends on call with two days back in lieu. No OOH. Shifts range from 7:00am – 7:00pm (8-hour day). Part-time considered with a fair share of late shifts.

OOH Registered Veterinary Nurse

OOH Registered Veterinary Nurse (Part-Time) – Anderson Abercromby Veterinary Referrals – Horsham, West Sussex

We’re looking for part time experienced Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN) to join the team at our fantastic purpose-built facility near Horsham.

The role involves working overnight between 10.30pm and 7.30am.  We do not provide emergency cover overnight, outside of our own registered referral patients; therefore, the care is focused on our inpatients pre- and post-surgery.

You do not need to have previous referral experience to be considered for the position, all that we ask if that you are at least 1 year qualified.  Full support and a full induction period will be given to ensure you feel settled within the team and your new working environment.

You’ll get a salary of £32,000 – £35,000 pro rata DOE and excellent benefits.

This is a part time position covering between 1 – 3 nights per week (average hours 9 – 27 hours per week). The twilight shift range is from 10 .30pm – 7.30am (8-hour day) with a paid 1 hour break.

The Practice is located in a newly refurbished building in a beautiful rural setting with excellent facilities (3 operating theatres and on-site CT).

The bustling market town of Horsham is packed with great places to eat, a mix of independent coffee shops and high street staples and is within easy reach of the South Coast and London.

About the Role:

The role of the intern is to assist the referral surgeons in the diagnosis and surgical management of referred cases. You will have an important role in the perioperative care of surgical cases under the supervision of the referral surgeons and will gain a lot of experience in all aspects of case management. You will be able to perform certain parts of routine surgeries depending on experience and will have free in house CPD of routine orthopaedic procedures.

The position will particularly appeal to recent graduates or people with a few years’ experience in general practice who are interested in gaining further knowhow in orthopaedics or pursuing a career in referral/specialised surgery. Several of our previous interns have secured university residency positions and have published articles in peer-reviewed journals, becoming ECVS and RCVS diplomates.

The position is full-time on a fixed term contract for 12 months, with no obligatory weekend work.

Salary: £35k – £38k, dependant on experience.
