Ellie : Severe hip arthritis
German shepherd Ellie developed hindlimb lameness when she was about four years old.
Painkillers were helpful in treating her condition at first, but the lameness returned and she became reluctant to exercise and had problems getting into cars and climbing stairs.
After x-rays showed that she had severe arthritis in both hips, she was referred to our practice.
We performed a total hip replacement, and three months after her surgery she was back to exercising freely and no longer needed painkillers.
She is now a much happier dog, and her owner is delighted that she can take her out for normal walks again!
